early New Years resolution

Well I'm back at it! Today was the first day I went out jogging since before I found out I was pregnant with Libby! since I was having problems with asthma shortly after I started getting back into jogging, at the beginning of the year, I had to stop jogging until the inhaler I was using kicked in, but then my little surprise came along and I dismissed the idea of jogging for awhile.

Now that I'm 2 months postpartum, I figured now is a good time to get my butt back out there and go jogging! and after 10-11 months of not jogging, ....Wow! I'm outta shape! ;) I didn't get very far at first but I did go farther then I thought I would! so I'm pretty pleased with myself, even if there was more walking than jogging! I'm sticking with the same route I did last time which was just over 2 miles but once I reach that milestone I'd like to keep pushing myself.

I haven't lost all the baby weight yet so I'm sad/disgusted to say I'm at 208. I was down to 197 pre-pregnancy and lost a few pounds in the beginning but gained it all back and then some. but anywho, ....I'm determined to lose weight! My goal weight is 150! I know I can do it!

Not only is my resolution to lose weight/ get into shape and exercise regularly, so I can look and feel healthier, but to get the recommended amount of fruits and veggies in each day. I've been doing pretty good the last week on getting them with the exception of the last 2 days, but we all know how our "diets" do around the holiday's. I can't wait to see the pounds melt off. I'll be updating my blog to help keep me more accountable in reaching my goals!

well running is on a "long term" hiatus for now.

For obvious reasons I'm not running! due to morning sickness I'd lost a few pounds but since it wasn't near as bad as with Laena I didn't lose much and now that morning sickness has passed have already gained it back. I'm going to try and eat healthy during this pregnancy but we all know how that goes! I'd like to keep my weight gain to the minimum recommended amount but we'll see how it goes, if not I'm not going to worry about it, just work my butt off after baby arrives to get off the weight!

So much for getting to my goal weight before getting pregnant again but what can I say surprises happen! but I wouldn't have it any other way now, amazing how you can love someone you haven't even met so much! When our sunny weather finally kicks in (ahem mother nature???) I'd like to get out and do some walking, for now when we have our nice breaks in the weather I try to get out and do something fun with Laena as she loves to go "bye-bye".

another update

I thought I should update since I was updating my other blog about my daughter's birthday. I haven't forgotten about this blog, I just haven't been exercising, since my asthma is still not cooperating! It has gotten better, just not to a point where I can comfortably run. I should at least get out and walk but it's hard when you prefer jogging and it's dang cold outside! I've managed to lose weight though! I'm down to 195lbs, simply by eating smaller meals 5x a day. I'm hoping when the weather is nicer I can convince myself to go walking.

Hiatus

Well unfortunately, Doctors orders, I have to take a break from jogging, until I can get my asthma flare up under control. The last couple weeks, I've been having trouble getting full breaths in, which (of course) is made worse by exercise, so until my Qvar starts taking full effect, I was advised to abstain from running for 7-10 days. I'm hoping it takes less time! or at the very least, when I can get back to running, that I can pick up where I left off (run the same distance), if not go farther then before since my lungs will be doing better. :) for now, still trying to work on portion control, for some reason that seems to be the hardest thing for me right now. Eventually I'll get it down, right?

6 pounds down!

I'm down to 199! I'm out of the 200's! yea! However my "diet" hasn't been too great the last couple of days with all these Valentine's goodies! and my exercising hasn't been that great so far this week, (I haven't done the 30 day shred at all this week! But I did manage to run almost a mile yesterday non stop, before switching to walking, I went just under 2 miles and ran about 1 1/4 miles. I used a handy little tool on livestrong.com that lets me track the distance, and with the route I was taking it wasn't quite 2 miles, like I'd like to get back up to, so I've figured out a new route that will be just over 2 1/4 miles. can't wait to try it out tonight. Yep, again skipping out on the shred, and replacing it with jogging :)

"Just a little bit further!"

That's what I tell myself each time I go jogging, I was so stoked when I went (roughly) a 1/2 mile of non-stop jogging before I had to revert to doing the walk a block, jog a block method. I can't wait to get back up to 2 miles again and maybe more! I'm becoming a big fan of Jillian Michaels now, I'm liking her 30 day shred video and almost can't wait to start her no more trouble zones. I find it oddly funny, that for someone like me who hated exercise videos and working indoors, that I'm starting to enjoy it! I still haven't dropped that extra pound that I gained the week before but I'll admit, there were a couple days that I didn't do so well on the "diet", also a couple days I didn't jog, but I did make up for one day by jogging the next day.

I don't know why it's so hard to get out jogging and eat better, but it is! I actually love jogging and love the way I feel after I've gone out but it's still hard somedays to get myself out there. Chewing gum helps about 50% of the time to ward off snacking, I'm also making sure I'm getting enough water, since I know that our bodies confuse thirst with hunger. If everybody would stop making such good tasting, bad for you food, it wouldn't be so hard. ;)

Hopefully I'll be able to report some weight loss next week, but I'm good with my 1/2 mile milestone :)

back on track

I didn't work out at all last week, and at least one or two days didn't do so well on "dieting" but I'm doing better this week, so far I've worked out everyday this week (Mon.- today) I did level one of the 30 day shred both monday and today, I didn't jog yesterday but after the 4 hour walk around the Keizer Station, I figured it was ok if I didn't jog. I did gain a pound back last week due to not exercising but I'm determined to lose it and then some! :)

2 more lbs down

Well as of Sunday I was down to 200, but after a weekend of eating out and not exercising since the news of my Grandpa's passing, It's possible I've gained back some weight. I've decided it's OK to give myself the week off, if need be, I won't beat myself up or feel guilty if I don't exercise. I'm still keeping up with the "diet" mostly just eating less, not much of a diet but I don't want to deprive myself of anything, otherwise I'll crave it and drive myself crazy! :) I purchased a bulk package of trident gum at Costco and have been chewing on that when ever the urge to snack consumes me.

Here we go!

I've decided to take a chapter from my S-I-L's book and start blogging about my own weight loss goals, achievements, set back, you name it and to hold me accountable for my calorie intake and my workouts. I joined Livestrong.com almost a year ago and hardly did anything with it, I recently got back on the website and for the last two weeks, I've tracked every single thing I've eaten and that is helping me realize, I'm eating too much too often and eating way too many calories in a day. So thanks to that, I've become more accountable for my eating habits and food intake, it's still not great, I need to sneak more fruits and veggies in there but it'll come with time. (I hope!) :)

So obviously it's my New Years resolution to lose weight and get back into my "skinny" jeans that have been taking up space in my closet for many years now. I almost hate to admit it, but I've been using Jillian Michaels, 30 day shred to work out to since the beginning of the month. I H-A-T-E gyms with a passion! I love to get out doors and workout though, So starting today (it was suppose to start last week) I've added jogging to my workout routine. I'm actually amazed at how much the video has upped my endurance, (and just within a couple weeks), I was able to jog much farther than I thought I would be able to. I went roughly a mile, half jogging, half walking, and I made it almost a 1/4 mile before having to switch to walking, it was so exhilarating! I was so proud of myself for getting out there and jogging and even more so that I went so far, when it's been ages since I've jogged. I continued jogging, walking, jogging, walking, .......well you get the picture and returned home for some much needed stretching!

My plan is to work out Monday-Saturday for at least 20 minutes or more each day. Mon, Weds, Fri, I will be doing the 30 day shred and Tues, Thurs, Sat, I will be jogging! And now, the thing I really hate to admit! I weigh more than my hubby, not by much but still it's upsetting to me to weigh more than he does! luckily for me, I hold my weight quiet well. (I just don't picture well!) The heaviest I've ever been is ....210 (bleh!) I was able to lose 5 pounds this last summer before our trip to San Diego, so I was down to 205, within the last two weeks I'm down to 202. not to shabby! My over all goal is to be back down to 150 pounds and back in my size 10 jeans! I'm hoping to reach that goal by the end of July, just in time for my 2nd wedding anniversary! but even if I'm a few pounds shy, I'll still be happy! I've lost the weight before, I can do it again!

I need to eat less, I need to pay attention to portion sizes and stop snacking on high calorie foods! I'm getting enough water but I need to substitute my "I'm hungry" with an "I'm thirsty" and shrink my stomach, so it doesn't want to eat so much! ;) and I'm hoping I can stick to my original plan/guidelines I had the first time I lost a bunch of weight.

-When I feel the urge to snack, drink water
- chew gum to resist the urge to snack
- no fast food
- no soda pop
- eat half of what I'd normally eat
-& exercise 4 or more times a week

I have confidence in myself that I can do this! I often wonder how it is I let myself go again, after working so hard the first time to lose weight, but I have to realize, I'm only human and as the saying goes "shit happens".

I'm doing this for so many reasons to but the main reasons are, I want to be a good role model to my daughter, and teach her the right ways to eat and to make exercise a regular habit, I don't want her to have to go through the same struggles of being over weight that I've gone through in my life and I want tons more energy to play with her. I want to feel more attractive, (I won't lie, I think I'm pretty damn cute! call me cocky or confident, either way, it's true!) ;) I want to be more attractive for my husband (who by the way, thinks I'm sexy, no matter what! Man I love him!) all in all, I just want to feel great about myself. (that's not to say I don't like myself, I love myself, you can't love others unless you love yourself.) OK, well I've blabbed enough. I'll try to keep weekly updates, maybe more maybe less, but there will definitely be updates! ;)
